E.J. Taylor & Sons Ltd operates within the male dominated Construction Industry with far fewer females than males applying for roles within the company. We employ 1 female to every 6 males across the Company, with the number of females working out on site growing very slowly. Our management team ratio still remains at 1 female to every 3 males. All applicants are assessed and jobs awarded on the basis of the individual’s skills. The ability of each individual to earn more is determined by their own success within their role and all employees are encouraged to strive to reach their full potential.

We operate pay bandings for different roles within the company and those within the same bandings will earn in line with each other - any pay gap differences are due to differing roles and bandings.

Our gender pay gap shows a much higher percentage towards males pay rather than females. This was due to the coronavirus pandemic, where at the beginning of the pandemic our sites had to close due to materials not being available. This ultimately led to almost 75% of the business being placed on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and we were still able to keep most of our staff employed because of this.
